Women in Finance – the motherhood penalty

Our CEO, Virginia Herlihy was a main stage speaker at the Women in Finance Australia event in September 2018.  Talking about why the motherhood penalty penalises us all and how to fix it to advance diversity‘,  Virginia’s talked examined some of the reasons why becoming a parent tends to penalise the careers of women (hence the ‘motherhood penalty) so disproportionately. She also explored how individuals, organisations, and society can tackle it for the benefit of everyone, not just women.

Part of the Maddox Global Events Series, Women in Finance Australia brought together over 400 professionals to look at practical strategies for increasing female participation and progression in the Banking and Finance industry in Australia.  You can see the full video below.
